Since getting my Ninja Foodi, I have been on a quest to make as many recipes using this nifty gadget. I have made buffalo chicken egg rolls in my oven as well as using my Grandpappy fryer, so I thought I would try them using the air fryer in my Ninja Foodi. Honestly, deep fat fried egg rolls are the best. Let’s be honest, anything fried is going to be amazing! The air fried version takes second place. Buffalo Chicken Egg Rolls (Air Fryer) are a healthier option than frying them in oil and still very tasty.
Do you feel the need to make something more yummy on the weekends than during the week? It almost feels as if because we made it through the grueling week, we deserve decadence on the weekend. To avoid spending about $100 or more at a restaurant, I am constantly trying new recipes that will rival the delicious food we can get while eating out. These Buffalo Chicken Egg Rolls, made in my Air Fryer, fulfilled the mission.

Homemade Egg Rolls versus Air Fryer Frozen Egg Rolls?
Should you make homemade egg rolls or just buy them in the frozen section of your grocery store already made? The choice is really up to you. Either way, I highly recommend using your air fryer to avoid the extra calories from frying them in oil but still having a crispy treat.
The frozen, pre-made egg rolls available at your local supermarket are similar to the egg rolls you would get at your local Chinese restaurant. They include chicken or pork as well as cabbage. Simply place them into your air fryer for about 8 minutes, flipping at 4 minutes.
Air Fryer Buffalo Chicken Egg Rolls
You will need about 16 ounces of shredded chicken for this recipe. You can use canned chicken breast or make your own shredded chicken. I like to make my own as it is more flavorful and way less expensive. I seasoned my breast with garlic powder and Old Bay Seasoning.
Crockpot Chicken
For this recipe, I used the crockpot as I could set the chicken to cook while I was at work and return home to make the recipe. If you do not have a crockpot with the capabilities to set it via an app on your phone, you are missing out. I absolutely love mine. I can set it and when the cook time ends, it will automatically move the setting to “warm”.
You can make your chicken in the crockpot by simply placing two large chicken breast in and setting on high for about 3 hours. I added 1/2 cup of water to the crockpot. If the breast are frozen, add an additional hour to the cook time.

Pressure cook chicken with Ninja Foodi or Instapot
Do you have the Ninja Foodi or an Instapot? You can pressure cook two chicken breasts. Place the breasts into the pot with 1 cup of water. Pressure cook on high for 8 minutes and then quick release the steam. If the chicken breasts are frozen, increase the cook time to 10 minutes.
Buffalo Chicken Dip
To make the Buffalo Chicken Egg Rolls/Air Fryer you will need to start out by making Buffalo Chicken Dip.
Shred the cooked chicken breast.

In a microwave safe casserole dish with a lid, combine chicken, cream cheese, Franks Red Hot Sauce, Ranch Dressing, and Cheddar Cheese. I also sprinkled with garlic powder. Microwave with the lid for 5 minutes. Stir to combine the ingredients.
Make note: Do you love the kick of buffalo? If so, double the Franks Red Hot Sauce. I put only 1/4 cup of Franks in this recipe because I do not like spicy, however I wished I had added more.
Rolling The Egg Rolls
I purchased Frieda’s Egg Roll Wrappers. They are normally located in the produce section of your local grocery store. I do not have a preference on a brand that is better than others and normally just purchase whatever ones they have in stock.
Open the package of eggroll wrappers. Place the eggroll wrapper with one corner facing you. Add three tablespoons of the buffalo chicken dip mixture. Using your finger, add water to the edges. This will seal the wrapper and the contents.

Fold the bottom corner over the filling. Lift the left and right corners and fold them toward the center over the filling. Roll the eggroll wrapper away from you, enclosing the filling. Press the top corner to seal like an envelope. You may need to add a bit more water to adequately seal the contents inside the wrapper.

There were 20 wrappers in the package. I filled 15 of the 20 before I ran out of buffalo chicken filling. I did fill my egg rolls pretty full.

Air Frying Egg Rolls
It is recommended to preheat your air fryer to 400 degrees for a few minutes. Spray the air fryer basket with your favorite cooking spray. Add as many of the wrapped egg rolls that will fit in a single layer in your air fryer. I have the Ninja Foodi (8 Quart) and I could fit six Buffalo Chicken Egg Rolls at a time.
Set the air fryer to 400 degrees for 8-10 minutes. Make sure to flip the rolls half way through to get both sides perfectly brown and crispy.

Serve. I served my Buffalo Chicken Egg Rolls (Air Fryer) as our main course with a side salad. This would make a great appetizer or a snack for a football gathering as well. Need more of a spicy kick, dip them in Franks Red Hot Sauce. Add a dipping sauce of Ranch or Blue Cheese Dressing.

In summary
Whether you are looking for a new and exciting recipe for a weekend dinner or an appetizer to bring to you next party, these Buffalo Chicken Egg Rolls made in the air fryer are sure to be a fan favorite. They are truly the perfect combination of spicy, cheesy, and crunchy!
Drop me a comment if you try them. I’d love to hear your opinion!
