Garlic Parmesan Air Fryer Frozen Shrimp

I am constantly looking for a new, super easy recipe. Am I the only one who is completely sick and tired of the same dinners every week? Thankfully, I was gifted a Ninja Foodi for my birthday. I absolutely love trying new recipes. If you love garlic, butter, and parmesan cheese, keep reading for my recipe for air fryer frozen shrimp.

Should your shrimp be thawed or can you make them frozen?

Many times, I do not even think about dinner until about 4:00 in the afternoon. At that point, taking something out of the freezer is out of the question if you want to make it for dinner. The good news is you can use your air fryer to make this shrimp recipe even if the shrimp is still frozen. If you happen to remember to defrost the shrimp, no problem, just reduce the time in the air fryer.

Do you need an air fryer to make this recipe?

You do not need an air fryer to make this recipe, however it is definitely easier to make with the air fryer. It will cut the cooking time in half.

If you do not have an air fryer, you can make this recipe using your stove top. Simply cook the shrimp in a saucepan. You know they are done when the shrimp turn from gray to pink. After they are cooked, add the ingredients for the sauce to the pan.

Air Fryer versus Ninja Foodi?

This recipe is versatile and can be made in an air fryer or a Ninja Foodi. There is a garlic parmesan sauce for this recipe, so you will need to have a pan that can hold liquids for this recipe.

If you have an air fryer with only a basket, line the basket with foil or place a small pan into the air fryer basket to make the sauce. This is a great accessory kit for your air fryer, available to purchase from Amazon, that I have used for many of my recipes.

If you have a Ninja Foodi, as I do, use the cook and crisp basket first. When making the garlic parmesan sauce, dump the shrimp from the basket into the removable pot to make the sauce.

Garlic Parmesan Air Fryer Frozen Shrimp

For this recipe, I used the AIR CRISP and SAUTE feature of my Ninja Foodi.

Spray the air fryer basket with olive oil cooking spray. Dump the frozen shrimp into the air fryer basket. Spray the shrimp with the olive oil spray.

Place the frozen shrimp into the air fryer basket. Air fry for 10 minutes at 390 degrees until the shrimp turns from gray to pink

Air fry at 390 degrees for about 10 minutes or until the shrimp turns from gray to pink. Remove the basket half way through the cook time and shake to cook both sides of the shrimp.

The Garlic Parmesan Sauce

You can use the stovetop, an air fryer, or the Ninja Foodi to create the savory garlic parmesan sauce that sets these shrimp apart.

Transfer the air fried shrimp to any of the following:

  • If you are using the Ninja Foodi, transfer the shrimp from the cook and crisp basket to the removable pot. You can use the SAUTE feature or the AIR CRISP feature to make the sauce.
  • If you are using the stovetop to make the sauce, you will use a saucepan and will set the burner to Medium heat.
  • If using an air fryer, you will need an air fryer safe pan or line the air fryer with foil for the sauce.

Combine the shrimp, butter, Italian dressing seasoning packet, minced garlic, Old Bay seasoning.

Transition to the shrimp to the removable pot of the Ninja Foodi, a pan on the stovetop, or add foil to your air fry basket to make the sauce.

Combine the sauce ingredients and cook for 5 minutes

If using the Ninja Foodi, SAUTE on High for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Cook on the stovetop for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. When using an air fryer, air fry for about 5 minutes at 350 degrees, stirring every 2 minutes.

After five minutes, add 1/4 cup of grated parmesan cheese and stir. Continue to saute’ or air fry for one additional minute until the cheese melts and the sauce thickens.

After 5 minutes of cooking, sprinkle 1/4 cup of parmesan cheese on top of the shrimp. Stir. Cook another minute

Serve the frozen air fryer shrimp with garlic parmesan sauce over pasta, rice, or simply eat the shrimp by themselves.
