How Long To Cook Pizza Rolls In Air Fryer?
How long will it take me to cook pizza rolls in air fryer? The answer is only minutes. Whether you are using the already made, frozen pizza rolls from your grocery store’s frozen food section, or you are making your own, the prep time is next to nothing and the cooking time is less than 10 minutes.
When making frozen pizza rolls, such as totino’s pizza rolls or even Walmart’s Great Value brand, the total cook time is 8 minutes.
The pizza rolls I make from pizza dough, cheese, and filling take about 9 minutes once in the air fryer to include preheating the air fryer.
Here is how I make air fryer pizza rolls.
Totinos Pizza Rolls In The Air Fryer

Frozen pizza rolls are super simple to make in the air fryer. Not only do they come out super crispy and gooey on the inside, air frying pizza rolls only takes 8 minutes. Trust me when I say using your air fryer will be the only way you will ever make frozen totino’s pizza rolls after trying it.
Many times recipes tell you to put the items in the basket in a single layer. In this case, you do not need to worry about that. Simply dump as many of the pizza rolls into the air fryer basket as you would like. I would recommend, however, if you purchase a large bag (the 40 count bag), that you make the pizza rolls in two batches.
Set to 390 degrees and 8 minutes. After 4 minutes, give the basket a good shake and continue cooking until the 8 minutes is up or until they are golden brown. \
I recommend keeping a close eye on them. Depending on the brand of your air fryer, they made start to ooze their tomato sauce and cheese before the 8 minutes is up.

Homemade Pizza Roll Recipe In Air Fryer
Do you want to make homemade air fryer pizza rolls? Though frozen pizza rolls are always delicious, this is a great recipe for homemade pizza rolls. If you are not dealing with time constraints, I highly recommend making easy, cheesy, crunchy air fryer pizza rolls. From the first bite to the last, you will not regret the additional time it takes to make these amazing pockets of love!
Again, the cooking process for making these pizza rolls is super simple. You can fill them with whatever you choose. I chose to use pepperoni in addition to the mozzarella cheese. I would highly recommend using string cheese sticks. It is so easy to work with and provided the best results. You can easily seal the filling into the dough.
Ingredients:
You will need only a few simple ingredients. For this recipe you will need a roll of pizza dough which you can find in the refrigerator section of your grocery store near the crescent rolls and biscuits. One roll will make 10 pizza rolls. You can cut them into smaller, bite-size pieces if you like.
You will need about 50 slices of pepperoni, 10 mozzarella string cheese sticks, garlic powder, italian seasoning, and powdered parmesan cheese. I made pepperoni pizza rolls but should you wish to put additional traditional pizza toppings into the pizza rolls such as sausage, different cheese, vegetables, olives, onions, you may do so. You will need a jar of your favorite pizza sauce, marinara sauce, or your favorite dipping sauce such as ranch dressing to give them the final pizzazz.
Directions:
The cooking time and the number of pizza rolls you can make at one time will depend on the size of your air fryer oven. I have the ninja foodi 9 in 1 deluxe 8 quart. I was able to make 4 pizza rolls at one time. Should you cut your pizza rolls into smaller pieces you could fit 12 at a time. For this recipe, you will want to make sure your pizza rolls in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
Here are the super simple steps to make this recipe:
- Open the cylinder tube of pizza dough and unroll it onto a baking sheet such as a large cookie sheet. You will use this area to prepare each of the individual rolls. Cut the dough into 10 equal pieces.
- Unwrap the mozzarella string cheese sticks.
- Place 4-5 pieces of pepperoni onto the divided piece of pizza dough. On top of this, add a cheese stick. Sprinkle the inside of the dough generously with garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and powdered parmesan cheese. Should you wish to add any additional pizza roll filling such as sausage, vegetables, olives this would be the time do so.

- Fold the pizza dough around the cheese stick and pepperoni until the filling is encapsulated. Sprinkle the outside with garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and powdered parmesan cheese.

- If you wish to add extra oil to them at this point, you may do so. I did not and they came out perfectly (read my tips for perfect pizza rolls below).
- Set your air fryer to 390 degrees. If your air fryer automatically preheats, I recommend preheating it at 390 degrees f for 3 minutes. The Ninja Foodi does not automatically preheat, so I added 3 extra minutes to the cook time of 6 minutes (see below).
- Put the rolls into the air fryer basket in a single layer. My air fryer fit 4 at a time.

- Air fry for 5-6 minutes until golden brown. Depending on the brand of air fryer, the cooking time may be a little different. As always, I recommend watching them especially during the last minute mark.

- Serve your pizza rolls with a side of marinara sauce for dipping.

Tips for the best results:
Do you need to use oil or spray oil on your frozen pizza rolls?
The answer is no.
There is plenty of oil already in the batter of the frozen pizza rolls so additional oil is not needed.
For the homemade pizza rolls, you can use a pastry brush to coat the dough with olive oil before air frying. You may also use cooking spray. I do not enjoy a soggy pizza roll, but I did not feel they needed oil to make them crispy.
Pro tip: Never spray cooking spray directly into your air fryer trays. Many cooking sprays contain soy lecithin which can cause damage or chip the coating on your basket. Instead, spray them before putting them in or use an oil sprayer like this one:
Should I cut the homemade pizza rolls into smaller pieces?
After much trial and error, I have found the best way to make the homemade pizza rolls is as pizza logs. I do not recommend cutting them into smaller pieces. When using the string cheese sticks, it is easy to wrap and seal the pizza dough around all the fillings.
Should you wish to make pizza bites instead of rolls, I recommend cutting the string cheese before wrapping it in the dough.
How do I store the leftover pizza rolls?
If there are any leftover pizza rolls (there certainly were none left in my house), you should store them in an airtight container.
