Ninja Foodi Chicken Wings–Dry Rub Seasoning

When I received my Ninja Foodi, I was most excited about making chicken wings. I love wings. I may actually have an addiction to them, but it is so hard to make a really great chicken wing at home. Though, I have tried baking them, buying seasoned wings in the freezer section, frying them, I can never get them crispy enough. They always seem to have fatty skin on them that never quite cooks to perfection. Disappointing chicken wings are a sin–until now. I promise you this Ninja Foodi Chicken Wing recipe will knock your socks off. To copy the coined phrase of a famous Colonel; they are finger lickin’ good. In addition, they are a healthy alternative as they are not fried and have no breading.

My husband and I have been addicted to dry rub wings. We prefer the crispiness of these wings in comparison to the wings dripping in sauce. We do enjoy a good buffalo or garlic parmesan wing as well. This recipe can easily be modified to add your favorite sauce as well.

Do You Need The Ninja Foodi For This Recipe?

My answer is yes. If you do not have a Ninja Foodi, I would definitely say you at least need a good air fryer to get the wings to the desired crispiness. As stated before, I have tried to make chicken wings at home hundreds of times and they were never quite right. The skin never got as crisp as we wanted even with the addition of corn starch. This recipe for Ninja Foodi Chicken Wings is the best we have tried so far!

Ninja Foodi Chicken Wings–Dry Rub Seasoning

This recipe is gonna be easy. I am sure I have said this in every Ninja Foodi recipe on my blog. This recipe is no different. Get ready for simple. What is the most complicated aspect of this recipe? You probably will have to make two batches of the wings even if you have the 8 quart Ninja Foodi because the air fryer is just not big enough to allow you to air fry all the wings at once if you really want to have a crunchy skin.

I bought Tyson chicken wings. It was about 4.7 pounds of wings for around $10. When I opened the package, I realized the flat and the drums were together still. I would recommend to purchase them separated as the wings are much easier to handle in the air fryer. In addition, there was the “tip” attached. You are paying for this additional useless, uneatable portion of the wings, why?

I would recommend purchasing wings that are separated instead of together such as this one.

Pressure Cooker Chicken Wings

I forgot to take the wings out of the freezer in enough time to actually defrost them. I do this a lot. The good news is with the Ninja Foodi, this is not an issue. Just throw the frozen wings into the pressure cooker and add about 5 additional minutes to the cook time.

Place the removable pot into the Ninja Foodin with one cup of water. Add the crisp and cook basket. Place all of the frozen chicken wings into the basket. Put the pressure cook lid on the Ninja Foodi. Make sure the valve is sealed. Set on high for 25 minutes. Pressure cooking the wings are going to make them fall of the bone.

Pressure cook the wings in the Ninja Foodi first

While the wings are pressure cooking, make your dry rub.

Dry Rub Recipe

Combine all the seasoning into a large bowl with a lid. Put the lid on and shake to mix it. Leave the seasoning in this bowl.

Air Fryer Chicken Wings

I wanted to make sure there was only a single layer of wings in order to make sure the skin of each wing was crispy. I have an 8 quart Ninja Foodi and needed to divide the wings into two batches for the air frying.

When the wings are done pressure cooking, quick release the steam. Using mitts, carefully remove the crisp and cook basket. Dispose of the water in the removable pot. Replace the removable pot to the Ninja Foodi.

Roll the first batch of pressure cooked wings in the dry rub seasoning and then place in a single layer into the fryer basket.

Rub the pressure cooked wings in the dry rub seasoning

Close the attached air fry lid. Set to air fry, 400 degrees, and 8 minutes. Flip the wings half way through.

Remove this batch. Roll the remaining pressure cooked wings in the dry rub and air fry at 400 degree for 8 minutes, flipping half way through.

That’s it. Enjoy these amazing, crispy, tender, juicy wings!

    Hi, Teresa.
20 minutes should be perfect if the wings are defrosted.
    Enjoy!
