Ninja Foodi Dry Rub Country Ribs

Country ribs smothered in Sweet Baby Rays BBQ sauce. Mac n cheese. Sweat Tea. Nothing more southern than that, right? Well for a diabetic or those of you counting your carbs, there is nothing more detrimental to your health and weight loss goals. I’ve got 99 problems and they are all carb-alicious! Try, instead, this keto recipe for Ninja Foodi Country Ribs seasoned perfectly with a savory dry rub. For those true Americans not worried about carbohydrates, just add your favorite BBQ sauce for a traditional southern staple.

Should You Pressure Cook, Bake, or Air Fry Your Ninja Foodi Country Ribs?

I have been making country ribs for years. I like them so much better than baby back ribs. There is a little bit of fat which gives the meat some juiciness. Country style ribs are boneless so you do not have to pick them up, make a mess, and the weight you pay per pound is all meat.

This recipe is for the Ninja Foodi, however this recipe can be made in the crockpot or even the oven. I feel the key to a good country rib is cooking them long enough until they simply break apart. I also like to broil them or crisp them at the end.

Keto Ninja Foodi Country Ribs

This recipe is so incredibly easy, and the instructions are few. The most time consuming portion of the recipe is probably finding your measuring spoons to combine the dry ingredients to make the rub.

Pressure cooking

Insert the removable cooking pot and the cook and crisp basket with detachable diffuser into your Ninja Foodi with one cup of water. Lay the country style boneless rib into the cook and crisp basket. You will first use the pressure lid. Set to pressure cook on high for 25 minutes.

While it pressure cooks, put together your dry rub.

The Dry Rub

Because these ribs are missing the carb loaded BBQ sauce, the dry rub is the key to giving these babies some true southern flavor. Pork can be pretty boring so make sure to heavily sprinkle the dry rub on not one but both sides of the pork after pressure cooking.

To make the dry rub: Combine the chili powder, parika, garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, steak seasoning, salt and pepper in a small bowl. Put a lid on the bowl and shake to combine.

Air Crisp

When the pressure cooking is complete, quick release the steam. No one has time to wait on that natural release. We are all starving at this point.

Take out the crisp and cook basket. Dump the juice from the removable cooking pot and then put it back in. Add the cook and crisp basket. The ribs will look like this:

Boring, right? Spray the top of the meat with olive oil cooking spray. Sprinkle with half of the dry rub seasoning. Set to air fry at 390 degrees for 5 minutes.

Flip the ribs, spray with olive oil, sprinkle the remaining dry rub seasoning and air fry for an additional 5 minutes.

Serve with a low carb vegetable such as zucchini, yellow squash, or broccoli.

Southern Style Ninja Foodi Country Ribs

For those of you lucky people who do not need to watch your carbohydrate intake, here is an updated recipe in which you can include the BBQ sauce of your choice. The meat is definitely going to be more flavorful and more moist.

Coat the ribs in BBQ sauce before pressure cooking. Follow the same cooking guidelines by pressure cooking for 25 minutes and draining the juices. You do not need to spray the ribs with olive oil spray, the dry rub will stick. Add the dry rub seasoning and air fry as instructed.

Serve with more BBQ sauce, you might as well eat some mac n cheese smothered in cheesy goodness, and pour a sweat tea while you are at it. I am completely jealous.

Ninja Foodi Dry Rub Country Ribs

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds boneless country pork ribs
  • olive oil spray
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp steak seasoning
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • BBQ sauce of your choice

Instructions

  • Place the ribs into the Ninja Foodi cook and crisp basket with detachable diffuser in the removeable cooking pot with one cup of water.
  • OPTIONAL: if you want ribs with a more BBQ flavor, squirt each rib with your favor BBQ sauce before cooking. If you are cutting back on your carb intake or on the KETO diet, skip to step 3.
  • Put the pressure cooking lid on the Ninja Food. You will seal the lid's vent. Cook on high for 25 minutes.
  • While the ribs are cooking, mix together all dry ingredients in a bowl with a lid. Shake to mix.
  • When the ribs are done pressure cooking cooking, quick release the steam by moving to vent. After all the steam has been released, remove the pressure cooking lid.
  • Take out the cook and crisp basket using silicone mits. Remove the pot and dump the juices. Replace both the pot and the basket.
  • Make sure the country ribs are in a single layer at the bottom of the basket.
  • Spray the ribs with olive oil spray. Sprinkle half the seasoning mix on the top of the ribs.
  • Air crisp the ribs for 5 minutes at 390 degrees.
  • Using tongs, flip the ribs. Repeat steps 7-9.
  • Remove and serve.
