COPYCAT CHINESE BOURBON CHICKEN THIGHS IN NINJA FOODI
Do you remember the Chinese food you could only get in the malls’ Food Court? Bourbon chicken was my all time favorite. Then came Amazon and now I rarely set food into a mall. I have been craving that sweet, savory bourbon chicken. Good news! You can make it at home. Super simple and just as tasty, check out my recipe for Chinese Bourbon Chicken Thighs in Ninja Foodi.

Do You Need The Ninja Foodi For This Recipe?
Do you need the Ninja Foodi to make this recipe? You do not need the Ninja Foodi. The same recipe can be made using an Instapot or pressure cooker. You could also use your oven and stovetop, however it will take significantly longer.
Ready in less than 30 minutes and all in one pot, this recipe in the Ninja Foodi or any brand pressure cooker is a must in my book!
Bourbon Chicken Thighs In The Ninja Foodi
To create that famous bourbon sauce, takes quite a bit of ingredients, however it is just dump and go.
Start by making the sauce. Dump the following ingredients into the removable pot: soy sauce, ketchup, minced garlic, apple cider vinegar, honey, and brown sugar.

It is not bourbon sauce without bourbon, right? Add a splash of bourbon, or a mini bottle like I did. If you want a bit of spice, you an add some crushed red pepper.

Stir the sauce ingredients.
I would recommend purchasing skinless, boneless chicken thighs, however if you get the kind with the bone and skin (like I did), you can still make this recipe. Simply peel off the chicken skin. After the chicken has been pressured cooked and you shred the chicken, you will have to remove the bones. Buying it skinless and boneless would have been much easier.
Pressure cook the chicken thighs
You will be using the pressure cooking feature of the Ninja Foodi for this recipe. Place the chicken thighs into the sauce. Try to lay them in a single layer. I have an 8 Quart Ninja Foodi and eight chicken thighs could fit in a single layer. Swish some of that sauce on top of the chicken.

Place the pressure cooking lid on. Make sure the lid valve is set to SEAL. Set to high for 20 minutes.
Once it is done pressure cooking, allow the steam to naturally release for 5 minutes and then move the lid’s valve from SEAL to VENT and quickly release the remaining steam.
Thicken up the sauce
Remove the chicken from the removable pot using tongs. If you have purchased bone in chicken thighs, you will want to shred the chicken and remove any bone and cartilage. If you purchased boneless chicken thighs, shred the chicken.

Combine two Tablespoons of corn starch and about one Tablespoon of water in a separate bowl. Stir together until you make a paste or sludge. Dump this into the removable pot with the sauce. Stir. This will thicken the sauce.

Add the shredded chicken back to the sauce.

What should you serve with Bourbon Ninja Foodi Chicken Thighs?
I served this Ninja Foodi Chicken recipe over jasmine rice. You could add vegetables such as broccoli or cabbage. Any way you serve it, you are going to absolutely love every mouthful!
