Are you looking for an Orlando hotel that provides so many amenities you never have to leave the resort? Are you a Florida resident looking for a staycation where your kids are entertained, worn out, and happier than you are? The Omni Orlando Championsgate is a family paradise!

Like many of you, my family and I are always looking for a weekend getaway. We currently live in Central Florida between Tampa and Orlando so the choices for staycations are pretty plentiful. We can choose the beach, Ybor City, or Orlando, among other locations throughout the state. When choosing Orlando, we love to stay at the Omni Orlando Championsgate.

Why the Omni?

The reasons to choose Omni are plentiful. The hotel is upscale and there are a variety of amenities to please everyone in the family.

Pools

There are several pools on property. Want to relax without kids? Grab a chair at the adults only pool area while the kids have access to a zero entry pool that includes a twisty water slide. In addition, there is a kids pool that includes smaller, wider water slides for younger children.

The lazy river

There is an 850 foot long lazy river with tubes included in your resort fee. Many resorts charge extra to use tubes, so we feel this is definitely something to highlight. The lazy river includes an area with gentle rapids, a water fall, and cascading water spray. Even my mother in law loved the lazy river!

Wave pool

Experience a wave pool right on hotel property. Again, the tubes are included in your resort fee. The waves are not crazy so everyone can enjoy them from adults to small children. The wave pool is a fan favorite in my household.

Camp Omni Kids Escape

o you need some time with your loved one without the kids? The Omni Orlando Championsgate has you covered with Camp Omni. This camp offers your child dinner, video games, and other fun activities. Camp Omni is open on Friday and Saturday evenings from 5:00-10:00 p.m. Children ages 4-12 are invited. The cost is $12 per hour which includes the child’s dinner.

Money saving tip: If you eat dinner at the resort, bring your receipt and save 50% off the first two hours of Camp Omni.

Omni Kids Crew

When you check into the Omni Orlando at Championsgate, kids receive a backpack filled with activities. In addition, they receive cookies and milk delivered to their room the first night.

Golf

Omni Orlando at Championsgate is home to two recently renovated 18-hole championship golf courses designed by Greg Norman. Choose from the International Course or the National Course. In addition, there is a 9 hole, par 3 golf course where the fee covers golf clubs, golf balls and scorecard. If you are ready for a putt putt golf family championship, there is a miniature golf course as well which features 18 fun themed holes.

Restaurants

There are a host of different restaurants on site to include everything from Trevi’s–an Italian restaurant, to the Broadway Deli which serves salads and classic deli sandwiches. Ready for a cocktail? Bars are located throughout the hotel. You can even enjoy a bourbon tasting in David’s Club on Fridays and Saturdays from 4-5:30 for $25 per person.

Fire Pit and S’Mores

There are two fire pits. You can bring your own items to make S’Mores, however the Broadway Deli has prepackaged S’More kits to purchase that include a roasting stick. If you purchase your kit at the time of booking your room, the price was $2 cheaper. We purchased the kit in advance. We stayed at the Omni in October when the evenings are a bit cooler and sitting by the fire seemed fun. The S’Mores were a hit! My mother in law reminisced she had not made S’Mores since Girl Scout Camp!

Sign up for Omni Select Guest

Omni has a rewards program where you can earn points for free nights and receive select perks. It is free to join. Just for joining, you will receive access to free WiFi during your stay. This time, we received alcoholic drink coupons that could be used at the lobby bar or in David’s Sports Bar. We cashed them in at the pool bar and drank beers while sitting poolside.

Disney Shuttle

If you are interested in visiting Disney while staying at the Omni, save money by using the complimentary Disney shuttle from the Omni Orlando at Championsgate to the parks. This will save you on fuel as well as parking costs at Disney.

Choose a room package

Many times you can choose a room packages that includes additional items you already will be participating in for a reduced price. For example, if you are staying at the hotel in order to play golf on one of the championship golf courses, they have a Play and Stay package. If you plan to indulge in a breakfast buffet at Trevi’s you may be interested in the Bed and Breakfast Package.

Save money on food

In addition to the free alcoholic beverage coupons for being a Omni Select member, you can also save additional money on breakfast by paying in advance. You can save 15% off the buffet price by purchasing the buffet at the time of your booking or before your actual stay at the resort. The breakfast included a complimentary mimosa and the gratuity was included. The breakfast buffet was elegant offering breads, eggs, meats, an omelet station, as well as waffles, pancakes, and french toast. Soda and coffee was also included. Yum!

Use your credit card points

As I have discussed in a recent article, signing up for travel credit cards will allow you to gain reward points you then can use to travel for free. We put all of our monthly bills on our credit card and then pay it off at the end of the month. This translates to thousands of points each month. FREE TRAVEL!

Things You Should Know

Do not get too excited at the room prices. You should know there are several taxes as well as a $33 resort fee and $20 parking fee that will be added to the room price at the time of check out.

Be aware of peak season. The summer is high prices. Any time where Disney is hosting a special event such as Disney’s Not So Scary Halloween or Disney’s Merry Christmas events, the prices will be higher to stay at this resort.

The resort is next to a large sport complex. The weekend we stayed in October there was a statewide soccer tournament so the resort was very full with kids and parents competing in tournaments next door.

You can pay an additional $60 for an early check in. You can check into the resort as early as noon.

In summary:

The Omni Orlando Championsgate is a wonderful resort full of amenities worth the $33 resort fee. You and your kids will have the best time using the pools, wave pool, and lazy river. If you are an avid golfer, the championship golf courses are some of the best you will find in Florida.
