Do you have a desire to travel Costa Rica through an affordable, kid-friendly company? I highly recommend the family-friendly Casa Luna Hotel in La Fortuna, Costa Rica. This property had amenties suitable for families traveling with kids.
How did we get there?
Our first stop in Costa Rica was San Jose. This is the capital city. It was a very busy, city-like setting. We obtained our transportation to the hotel for the evening. This hotel stay was not part of our tour and not worthy of a review. We ate dinner on the grounds as our tour bus would pick us up the next morning.
The next morning we were greeted by the EcoTerra Costa Rica tour bus at the hotel for our trip from San Jose to La Fortuna. The van was air conditioned and had WiFi. It was very comfortable. There were several other travelers in the van with us, however we did not feel as if the van was crowded. We stopped in the Cloud Forest for a bathroom break and a few pictures. The terrain in Costa Rica is completely different than Florida, where we are from. The country is extremely mountainous, therefore the drive takes quite some time as you are going over mountains.
Casa Luna Hotel
Our hotel was the Casa Luna Hotel in La Fortuna. Being used to hotels in the United States, this hotel was completely different. Set in a rainforest, this hotel is what I pictured Costa Rica to be. It felt as if we were walking into a tree house. Our room was far from traditional with a beautiful view of the Arenal Volcano from our balcony.
The room was quaint yet elegant with wood beams on the ceiling and a darling balcony. Upon arrival, two swans made from towels greeted us on our bed. The bathroom was very large with a walk in shower.
The hotel had an outdoor restaurant. We ate breakfast here everyday and several meals to include a dinner. They had live music at night and the steak dinner was absolutely amazing!
There was a secluded pool area with hot tubs as well as a bar. We discovered Imperial Beer and loved it!
The EcoTerra tour company’s office is located on the grounds of the Casa Luna which was very convenient.
In summary:
The Casa Luna, a family- friendly hotel in Costa Rica, was by far our favorite hotel while in Costa Rica because of its uniqueness. From the moment we stepped on the grounds, we could feel this trip would be an adventure!
